The taskmaster

There is historical evidence for the existence of pocket combs made of bone or wood in more or less refined shapes for centuries; dating from 8,000 BC, the first was discovered during archaeological excavations in Scandinavia. These small-sized combs were then donned in beautiful finery, chiselled in gold or silver and adorned with patterns or engravings. In some cultures and in other eras, customised in all ways, this everyday beauty object also served as a lucky charm or amulet.This comb is handcrafted in Switzerland by one of the last manufacturers in Europe. Cut from a block of very high quality acetate, it is shaped, sculpted and then polished. The teeth and notches are especially arranged so as not to injure the hair.
