Once called the Ancona ruby, rose quartz is a very soft stone with highly beneficial effects for reactive and sensitive skin.

The cosmetic use of precious stones comes from a long tradition, documented through the treatises of Chinese medicine where stones are applied in the form of paste or powder and in the fundamental texts of Ayurveda with recipes of elixirs. In the 12th century, the Benedictine abbess Hildegarde de Bingen advised the therapeutic application of stones to specific places on the body.
